Technical Director for Access to Finance

Banyan Global, an international development consulting firm, is recruiting a full time Senior Associate to serve as the Technical Director for Access to Finance on the five-year, global, USAID-funded Strengthening Health Outcomes through the Private Sector (SHOPS) project, which provides technical leadership to a number of country and global initiatives designed to grow and improve the role of the private health sector in developing countries. The position is based in Washington, DC with travel abroad.

The Technical Director will oversee a portfolio of programming that expands access to financing for MSMEs in the health sector. Responsibilities include designing, managing and providing technical assistance to programs and overseeing Banyan Global staff on the project. Technical work will include conducting assessments, managing the development and delivery of training and technical assistance to financial institutions and MSMEs, assisting in structuring Development Credit Authority credit guarantees, improving market linkages, strengthening business development services for the health sector, developing innovative partnerships with other donors, funders and the private sector to expand access to financing, and providing thought leadership on how access to financing can grow and improve the private health sector. The position also contributes to the development of Banyan Global's health, financial services and enterprise development practices.

The successful candidate will have excellent technical and leadership experience in expanding access to finance, knowledge of USAID and proven relationship management, team building, and project management skills, including managing budgets and complex international project activities. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in economics, international development, or business
  • At least ten years of experience in SME finance, value chain finance, microfinance, and other financial services
  • Experience in financial institution and enterprise level technical assistance, training and training curriculum development
  • Health sector experience a plus
  • Experience in development consulting
  • Capacity to interact effectively with people from different cultures and work with governments and donor agencies
  • Experience working with USAID
  • Excellent communication and computer skills
  • Fluency in another language preferred
