Message from WAM International President, Michele Costello
As we bring 2011 to a close, I want to thank our board members, chapter leaders and members for a wonderful year.
The scholarship pilot continued in 2011 with good success. Overall, since 2010, WAM scholarships have made it possible for 11 women to attend trainings and networking events ranging from the SEEP Annual Conference, to Boulder-at-Turin, to AMIDA in Indonesia, to SMDP-Ghana, and the Women's World Banking Annual Capital Markets Conference.
Our most recent scholarship recipient Astrid Cardona from Friendship Bridge (Guatemala) attended the SEEP Conference in November 2011. She is pictured below (left to right) with myself and fellow board members Anne Folan and Lauren Clark. During the WAM Reception at the conference, Astrid addressed the audience and explained the important work her organization is doing to reach women in addition to expressing her gratitude for the scholarship opportunity. She also expects ongoing benefits from the networking and looks forward to sharing good knowledge from the conference with her colleagues.

The impact of the scholarship program is deeper than the numbers convey; our scholarship recipients become ambassadors who share acquired knowledge with other practitioners and demonstrate the WAM values in their home institutions and communities over years to come.
In order to maintain the program in a sustainable manner, we are creating an endowment for future scholarships to the above named trainings.
During this season of giving, please consider an alternative holiday gift in the form of a donation to the WAM Scholarship endowment by visiting http://www.wam-international.org/.
As always, I appreciate your feedback and suggestions. Please do not hesitate to contact me at:
