She is responsible for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation funded learning agenda focusing on expanding microfinance services across Africa. She has worked as the CFO for MicroEnsure, created in 2005 as the world’s first and only stand-alone microinsurance agency.; she has worked in microfinance for 7 years.

As part of the Chicago Microfinance Conference held on Friday, April 18, 2008, a special "Lunch & Learn on Women Advancing Microfinance (WAM) International" joined interested women together. WAM International Board Member Beth Houle spoke on lessons learned from commercial banking about women in senior management and provided a forecast of microfinance management. Other leading women in microfinance also shared from their experience including Bhuvana Nataraj from Chennai, India This gathering served as the informal launch of WAM Chicago.
